Suit Alleges Bank of America Lied to Homeowners

A recent lawsuit in Massachusetts alleges Bank of America lied to homeowners who applied for loan modifications. The complete story by This Week publication can be found here. While the allegations of wrongdoing on the part of the big banks are not new, the fact that these allegations revolve around recent activies incolving loan modifications is very disturbing. The suit includes affidavits purportedly prepared by former Bank of America employees detailing several nasty actions such as things such as lying to homeowners about whether loan modification documents had been received by the bank. If you have every applied for a loan modification you know that feeling when the bank representative asks for you the same document the tenth time!

As a bankruptcy lawyer based in Baltimore, Maryland, I see good folks working hard to save their homes and it would be a shame if the allegations are true and resulted in even one family losing their home. Stay tuned to find out the outcome of this case.
